Paul McKinnel UPDATE 20th Aug

Hi, Paul has had a hard time with the last 3 days, boredom, frustration, and very emotional, with the lockdown and no visiting. Stacey spoke with him yesterday afternoon, a long, positive, thought prompting chat, his mental state then changed for the better. He was much better when I spoke with him last night, even after the lockdown extension. I bought an iPad for him online Thursday and as it's deemed an essential item I got it delivered yesterday. Today Stacey helped me via our phone's to set up and load Netflix and some card games for him. All of that was new to me as I only have the laptop. At 5pm tonight was able to drop off a bag with extra clothes, some nibblies, more toiletries, and the new iPad. Could not see him but was able to go into the rehab ward and see his nurse. She will help him get started on it, and it will help him so much in passing the time, especially during this lockdown. He will also get some enjoyment in watching movies etc (he is a big watcher of Netflix at home). He knew I was dropping it off. He is taking each day as it comes, but also it will get easier. Heath & I at home here are doing ok under these hard times - with Paul in hospital and with lockdown. We're keeping busy daily with long walks with our dog, and good time to tidy/declutter/reduce all items in the house and garage. Also teaching Heath to do more cooking. Stacey is ok in Auckland, She is staying with her boyfriend at his place (in their bubble), they both got their covid vaccination this morning - both things I am very happy about, especially that she is not on her own. Thank you for your thoughts and prayers, he & we feel everyone's support. I will keep you updated. Take care, keep safe xx Sue 🙏🙏❤️❤️🤗🤗
